this'll be real long.
i created my neocities in 2021. it was under a different domain, and i made it with basically no html knowledge and very little css.
most of my coding knowledge comes straight from making this site - from when i first created it with substandard code, to when i switched to using a website template, and finally to now, where its layout is almost entirely self-coded.
like most webmasters, i still get help from others sharing their expertise on the web, but i still feel a comfortable pride at making this by myself.
this site originally was just so i could have something more personal than a carrd or a bio. myspace.windows93.net had just shut down for good, and i missed actually working with css. none of the replacements filled the m93-shaped hole in my teenage heart.
it showed me that being myself on the 'net didn't have to be a 200 character bio, a profile picture, and a username. it didn't have to be a spec of dust from someone else's business project. it could be an entire website on its own. it could be something i made, every inch of it could be chosen by me; i could truly bare my heart, and it wouldn't be considered "too much".
it could be my home.
best of all, i found it from others doing the same. there are an intense amount of beautiful, soulful places on the web, and they're who convinced me to start this. people who want to be themselves. and i love it so, so much. i'm happy to not be alone - and to find so many cool pages to gawk at!
now, though, i kind of want it to be more. i hope you visit again to see how it goes!
